artfulmatt Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Hello, im new to here although been working in a school in suffolk for nearly a 1.5 yrs.....anyway...... We use Sharepoint for our intranet so decided to use it as our VLE - so created an website open to the world which then directs you to the intranet once you are logged in. Every student and teacher has their own mysite with their personal N:|drives pointing to the personal document library within mysite - this then enables them to access there work from home :-D There is also a shared area where staff can share files with one another. each department have their own subsite to which they can add more or less whatever they want (homework, tasks, calendar etc....etc...) We also have Uniservity - but not sure how much this is going to be used? lol Matt
FN-GM Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 At one of my schools they was going to use Moodle until the whole VLE idea was abandoned. My other school uses Frog. Z
imiddleton25 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 We use Moodle with sharepoint webparts to intergrate it with SharePoint

ICT_Steve Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 imiddleton25 - i noticed your using the SIMS web parts, could you comment on how easy/hard they were to setup and could i possibly have a look at them in action? Thanks! I too am interested to know how easy and versatile SIMS web parts are. Are they also compatible with the lpplus northants VLE?
HodgeHi Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 What are the benefits of running Moodle with sharepoint? Does this enable you to use sharepoint as the backend to pull data and what not into moodle? I'm not too familiar with Sharepoint and so would be interested in finding out how this would integrate with Moodle, which we will most likely be using here by the way.
laserblazer Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 At one of my schools they was going to use Moodle until the whole VLE idea was abandoned. My other school uses Frog. Z Any idea what the official explanation for abandoning it was?
Pete10141748 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Ours is provided by a combination of our LEA and ISP, I think the actual platform comes from Editure - Home It's OK, most of the staff don't use it, despite me and the Head really pushing it. After almost 10 months of it being up and running, a handful of staff use it for email, that's it. The notice board, calendar, file storage, no-one is interested in it as me and the techie set up network shared areas way before the VLP came into play, and everyone is happily using the network shares
gibbo_ap Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 currently making my own the shared area section is now complete (beta lol) making an assessment area and other gubbins all in ASP
