Photo Sharing between shared Android Tablets and File server

Good morning!

 

One of my sites has just bought 4 android tablets to share between key stages (1 for KS1, 2 for KS2 etc), they are looking for an easy way to share photos to a central storage area. We looked into google photos however due to GDPR and these being shared devices, teachers can't sign into google as all their files will be accessible. We are currently running a windows server for our profiles and shares, ideally we would want a solution that just allowed staff to drop files into a share while being security compliant etc.

 

Any ideas or suggestions?

Worth setting up a school Google account even if it is just for this. You can do it properly with google workspace at no cost, takes a few days normally for it to come through but then you can set up the account for the tablets easily and have google drive on them. You can have it sync if you want to but no requirements and is a very simple DPIA to do just for this purpose. It then gives you scope to use Google for more things later down the line.

We do exactly this.

We have 4 x Google Pixel phones all managed within Google Workspace. Then a single account linked to all of them. This means that any photos taken on one of the phones will sync back to our central Google Photos. 

 

I have device approval and 2FA enabled for the account as well. This means that the account is secure, and can only really be used on these devices (Unless I approve a different device, or give out the password, which will never happen of course!)
