Hi,

Currently got a domain controller running and connected to the network.

I'm working on a re-design of our network and setting up a new server.  Same IP settings, subnets, etc.

How can I connect this to our network to get updates yet not be a conflict?

I dont want both networks mixing.

Thankyou.

Keep it simple - either use different addresses and change when you migrate over, or use different networks either physical or virtual to keep them fully separated - but you'd then need to set that up on your router/gateway too if you need internet access.

Just using separate addresses to start with is easier.

One suggestion would be that if you have control over your own address space then create the server on it's own vlan/subnet. Then you direct subnets to the new server as need. Been on it's own subnet it would not hand out any IP addresses unless those clients are on the same subnet or directed to the new DHCP server via DHCP relays or helpers. If you are redesigning might as well go the whole way 🙂
