DuaneDibbley Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 we're having a problem (using the free version of Mosyle) where paid apps aren't being shown when we try to create a profile using 'apps and books' as the source. All tokens (VPP/ASM etc) are up to date, all the free apps show up fine, but, even after syncing, the paid apps aren't listed. Some of the school's iPads are supervised, some aren't, but using a profile with 'app store' as the source just produces an error in Mosyle: 'please login to your iTunes store account'...I can't see how it can be a different account? The apps were purchased years ago, long before I started...but I can't see how to get the paid apps to show in 'apple apps and books' so they can be pushed out without error? Any chance anyone knows what might be at the route of the error?
robintech Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Only used Meraki myself but do they show up in the ASM https://school.apple.com/#/main/appsandbooks our paid apps appear there along with licences in use and available and which "location" it is assigned to, maybe the paid apps are on a different VPP you need to sync ?
Brimstone Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 1. Where have these apps been bought? Through the VPP store or direct using the MDM? You should be using the ASM VPP store for all apps then pushing them out via the MDM, what is your ASM account telling you about used apps, do you have enough paid for licences for all of the iPads? Many apps use an external subscription model now for paid for apps?
DuaneDibbley Posted December 1, 2025 Author Posted December 1, 2025 The apps in question were bought long before I was at the school - no one can remember when/by who. They don't show up with the rest of the apps in AppsandBooks - which is the problem I presume? Someone did mention contacting apple to get them converted to VPP - but I don't know if that's even possible. And any support we've tried to extract from apple before has been a painful process LOL
Brimstone Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 It sounds like these were bought using Apple's old VPP system, where you used Apple VPP web site and a token for each licence, if you used redemption codes for apps and and they have been redeemed by end users these can not be moved or transferred. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/105125 You will need to migrate these apps into Apps and Books in Apple School Manager. https://support.apple.com/en-mide/101927 1
