Happy end of Windows 10 support day!

So... we have upgraded 75% of our 500 machines to windows 11, but are left with a number of machines that are hardware incompatible.

 

What options are available for the remaining 25% still on windows 10 in terms of security updates?

 

Also what are the effects on our cyber essentials certification?

Windows 10 LTSC 2019. Supported until end of 2028. Or LTSC 2021, which is supported until end of 2026.

 

YMMV in terms of keeping applications up to date on that. For instance, the latest release of Affinity apps requires a version of .NET that isn't supported on LTSC 2019.

I've spoken to our license provider and yes we can buy a year of updates for: 

Windows 10 ESU Year 1 (2025 - 2026) – Education - £1.00 EX-VAT each

 

That was easier than I thought it would be!

 

Should give us enough time to upgrade the remaining laptops to USB-C capable AMD specs and Desktops to All-in-one's.

Our supplier says £1.37 ex VAT!! Hardly megabucks in the grand scheme of things, but still has me a bit miffed!

We've done a load of upgrades since the deadline. Nice to be upgrading hardware as well as software.

 

We are down to about 10% now on windows 10 and mostly those are classroom machines that we are deciding even if its worth upgrading. Most teachers now have an iPad as well as dedicated laptop with a USB-C connection so hopefully moving towards Airplay or single usb-c connection.

Our licence supplier has stated we have to sign up to a three year plan for the extended support, therefore works out at £7.50 per device for three years. 

 

Has anyone else came across this is or have you simply been offered a 1 year option?

We asked for one year and were (eventually) told we could have it, £1/PC/first year.
