timbo343 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with ViewSonic boards in that when the power button on the Interactive Panel or on the remote does not do anything? We've done all the usual stuff and checked the remote works too, yet the interactive panel does not react to any power buttons. When any of the buttons are pressed it remains with the power LED showing red. It's like the screen is in a locked state.
fq139143sul Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I am having the same issue. I replaced the powerboard, no luck (so now stuck with a brand new powerboard), I read online somewhere that there is a procedure to try to get it out of this 'locked state' Unplug the power cable, hold down power button for 30 seconds and then plug in the power again whilst still holding the power button. Give that a try too and let me know!
TLARWise Posted March 20 Posted March 20 We had this issue with an IFP8650-2EP (just after the warranty expired of course). We fixed it by replacing the system board (for a cost of £233.52).
fq139143sul Posted March 20 Posted March 20 ahhhh thanks for the update was it this one? (or similar)
TLARWise Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Couldn't tell you the exact model number but yes that looks about right.
fq139143sul Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Yep - spot on, ordered this from viewsonic spares departement (around £200) plugged in and we are good to go!!! If anyone needs a brand new powerboard, let me know as we have one in surplus now :)
timbo343 Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 Good to know for the future. ViewSonic wanted around £550 to £600 to repair it. Needless to say the 2x boards which we had fail have now been collected by our WEEE company.
MrEprise Posted April 25 Posted April 25 ViewSonic quality is not like it used to be. 2x 24" monitors bought back in 2022 both failed with the same fault (display chip causing artifacts on screen) last year and it was also silly money to repair them, so I've kept them as spares as the display panels are in good condition. All the other brands we've bought since then are all still going strong.
synaesthesia Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Oof - at least viewsonic will a) provide the parts b) do so at a rate that isn't nearly the cost of the full board and c) won't berate for you doing it unlike either Smart (used to) or Promethean who are frankly terrible.
td5roo Posted May 5 Posted May 5 For anyone who does manage to end up with an issue while the warranty is still valid, we have found ViewSonic warranty/RMA to be excellent. We had a total device replacement after a screen died completely and they were quite quick to get it all sorted, and as the -3 version of the display was no longer available, we had a new -5 instead. Sod's law of course as you folks say it happens just after the warranty expires..... 1

Sod's law of course as you folks say it happens just after the warranty expires..... We've had 5 screens fully replaced under warranty after they developed the fault mentioned in the original post, these were all bought in 2019/2020 and the fault started appearing within the last 2 years. Even those out of warranty repairs have been reasonable at around £380 per screen for the most recent two in the past year that have had the same fault develop. Don't see us changing to another manufacturer anytime soon really, the screens are reliable, the casting software just works and the free managment software is great for remotely changing things as needed and even using the broadcast function during a lockdown situation.
