Finally I have removed the classlink 7 network from our school and replaced it with a vanilla server 2003 enviroment, I can feel the life flowing back into me already!!! no more technical support calls that end with "sorry we cant tell you how to do that, thats customisation!)

When migrating domains the worst thing is putting clients on the new domain, how many did you have to do?

but with Microsoft's latest migration tool as long as the computer is turned on and has the correct settings (ie firewall turned off etc) you can get it to migrate automatically with an agent

The tool your looking for is call the Active Directory Migration tool 3.0 (ADMT 3.0)

I hope this helps, it has the ability to migrate user accounts (with passwords), migrate computer accounts (automatically) and migrate security groups (always a bonus!)

I used ADMT before with mixed success... I found myself manually doing a lot of machines for one reason or another - but if you're lucky, yes it can take the bulk of the work away.

nope, as long as the agent works as it should and the machine has the firewall switched off and the correct cress it should move the computer to the new domain and join it as well

Chuck a terminal server in and make them thin client.
