FN-GM Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) Hi there Just a quick poll to see what web browsers you mainly use. I have made this poll multiple choice so you can pick more than one, please only vote for ones you use regular. Not including mobile based browsers Z PS: Please can a Mod correct my spelling mistake in the poll it won't let me edit, cheers. Edited August 27, 2008 by FN-GM
RabbieBurns Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 firefox for me but i also have ie7 installed for use when a site forces me to, or to test how something looks
Geoff Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I use opera mobile on my phone. I use Firefox on my work/home PC. However certain sites still need IE to work right so I use IETab, so I use IE6/7 too really.
Domino Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Geoff, I tested opera mobile a while back and found it a bit resource hungry (on a windows mobile htc touch), how've you found it?
JohnMason Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Firefox for browsing, Internet Explorer for the odd site here and there that prefers it. And of course for the first URL one should ever type into a fresh format (of Windows, anyway)... www.getfirefox.com edit: And I just remembered, I use it for Quidco too. That way I can have been to a site before, but because it's not on IE I garentee the "sent by quidco" cookie is there so I get my money.
mac_shinobi Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 firefox mostly and safari. Hate ie and have not come across any ie only sites that I use.
Domino Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 HOLD UP up there it says Firefox (any platform) 23 88.46% Opera (Any Platfrom) 5 19.23% IE 6 8 30.77% IE 7 17 65.38% Safari for Mac 3 11.54% Safari for Windows 4 15.38% Other (Please State) 1 3.85% ...does anyone else see a problem here.....?
Lee_K_81 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Yes but it's multiple choice. 10 people doesn't mean 10 votes. it could mean 20 which would add up to 200%. The percentage is obviously calculated per person not per selection.
Geoff Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Geoff, I tested opera mobile a while back and found it a bit resource hungry (on a windows mobile htc touch), how've you found it? Much better than the built in browser on my Nokia 6500 Slide.
SpuffMonkey Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I love Opera - but have noticed the last couple of versions have been a bit annoying with some long waits as it seems to be dealing with caching or something.
mac_shinobi Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 HOLD UP up there it says Firefox (any platform) 23 88.46% Opera (Any Platfrom) <-- 5 19.23% IE 6 8 30.77% IE 7 17 65.38% Safari for Mac 3 11.54% Safari for Windows 4 15.38% Other (Please State) 1 3.85% ...does anyone else see a problem here.....? typo on the spelling of platform as apposed to platfrom ?
Lee_K_81 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 typo on the spelling of platform as apposed to platfrom ? Ah yes, but he did put a request for an admin or mod to change it.
FN-GM Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 typo on the spelling of platform as apposed to platfrom ? yep thats the one. i am surprised about how many people use safari on windows.
Geoff Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Remember if you use Quicktime or iTunes and don't pay attention when autoupdating you get Safari for 'free'.
cookie_monster Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 i am surprised about how many people use safari on windows. Yeh same here it's not as good as FF and not on the same planet as Opera, in fact in my experience i can't really say it's any better than IE7. We use IE7 on all our network PC's 500 of them and it really doesn't give me any trouble.
FN-GM Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 We sue IE7 on all our workstations at one site and IE6 on all of them at the other. We have no problems with either of them. Although they have IE the techies use FF. z
