Hi all,

I would be really grateful if anyone can link me something suitable....

We have a few old VGA projectors. All of the new laptops don't come with VGA and whilst you can get an HDMI to VGA adapter, what I am after is one with an audio passthrough as we find that often, the laptop decides to play the audio through the HDMI but when it is using something like this  ....the audio goes nowhere.

In the back of my cupboard, I found one of these. Although it is not really designed with my current use case in mind, it works perfectly but sadly, they are no longer sold and I can only find a few on Ebay.

Can anyone recommend something suitable?

We use the Startech ones as they seem to cope with most set-ups and we've had variable results with other brands (mostly cheap Chinese versions).

We did get a few with audio passthrough, but we used the adaptors 3.5mm jack > speakers and it was hardly audible. I didn't do a lot of testing as I was always called mid-lesson, or mid-assembly so I just had to tell them to plug in the speakers like they used to into the 3.5mm jack on the laptop and choose 'speakers' in the audio/volume pop-up from the taskbar rather than the HDMI device. Also it requires usb power.
