Link: ‘True to the traditional British banger’: the best supermarket sausages, tasted and rated | Sausages | The Guardian

Quote

Sausages are more than the sum of their parts – a blend of tradition, technique, ethics and flavour. I’ve always preferred proper butcher’s sausages, featuring hog casings filled with well-seasoned pork shoulder, then linked and set (I used to love making them with butcher Ray Smith on River Cottage’s regular Pig in a Day courses). Farmer’s markets and butchers are the best places to find them, but supermarkets now have a wide range, too.

Texture is key: a good sausage should have bite and a bit of snap, with a juicy, meaty interior, rather than pasty from too much rusk (a crumb typically made with flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda) in the filling. Then there’s flavour: a decent sausage should be rich in umami, well-seasoned but not overpowering, so you can actually taste the meat, and not be too sweet or packed with preservatives...

I thought we had a new cooking section for a minute!

You can't beat a sausage sarnie with tomato ketchup as a breakfast treat 😎

Cream cheese and sausage - are you crazy?! 🤣🤣🤣

If it works, it works!

I've recently been experimenting with making Toad in The Hole in my Ninja Foodi but not quite got the recipe to my complete liking just yet.

I haven't had a sausage in me for years... said the actress to the Bishop...

No, seriously.... The OH went on a health kick ages ago and started buying Heck chicken ones!

Then she pretty much stopped cooking altogether (to be fair, neither of us can be bothered to spend the time cooking and washing up) and started buying ready made meals from Cook (of course I only get the ASDA microwave versions)... 🙄

That's why I love my Ninja Foodi air fryer and pressure cooker all-in-one thing as there's so little washing up and it's so easy to use so I can just bung the food in, wait for the timer to go off and voila!  Dinner is served!  One pot to wash up instead of loads of pots and pans so nice and easy for me 😎
