IT Support Engineer - Term Time Only so £28K is Full Time Equivalent - Greater Cambridgeshire

We are seeking an ICT support / field engineer to join our established and growing team on a term time only basis, covering a wide range of ICT duties as a specialist Education and SMB managed service provider.
 
The applicant should be a highly motivated individual who is looking to develop their skills within the field of I.T. This is a customer-facing role and therefore good communication skills and a professional attitude are essential.
 
The role involves providing support and consultancy by telephone, remote support and on-site on a day to day basis. The successful applicant will attend regular site visits at schools in Wisbech, Cambridge and Stowmarket and possibly further afield, which will require a full UK driving license and use of a car is essential.
 
As an IT Support / Field Engineer you will have a good understanding of the following:
 
Previous experience and/or qualifications in current Windows Server products and services (Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy)
Strong administration and maintenance of Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft 365, Intune etc
Desktop and Server Hardware upgrade/installation and troubleshooting
A good knowledge of up to date Windows desktop operating systems and applications
Helpdesk system (managing, responding to support requests with SLAs)
Good networking experience (TCP/IP topologies, switches, routers)
Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Firewalling, UTM and security solutions
Onsite and Offsite backup and recovery services and procedures
 
Requirements:
 
1+ years relevant experience
A full UK driving licence and vehicle
An Enhanced DBS (the cost of which will be met by the employer).
Good communication skills
A willingness and enthusiasm to learn
5 days a week term time only
 
Salary: £28,000 negotiable (is the full time equivalent salary)
 
On-site parking
Car mileage payments from home to site

Yes that's correct, that salary would be pro rata'd down, I can try to work out the correct amount and let you know

Will why do these companies inist on you providing them with a free car for them to use?  I don't get it.  Last thing I plan on doing is buying a nice car only for your guys to help me run it into the ground.  40-50p/mile doesnt cover modern car wear and tear, a wet belt on a focus is like £4k with a water pump + tyres, brakes, insurance, etc etc.  Frankly any time i see "needs licence and own car" i close the job advert straight down.

Going very off topic but if you're buying a car with a wet belt, you're part of the problem

It as just an example of the kind of costs you could incur wearing your car out for your employers amusement.  Similar costs for many modern cars, ever replaced the twin turbos on a bmw or modern merc?  $$$$

I get it but i've also had many candidates who have their own car and don't want a company vehicle maybe down to where you store it over night, or happy to take the higher rate of 45ppm and have a basic easy to maintain car

I get your point - but I'm not entirely sure that someone on £28k a year FTE, which is then pro-rata'd to around £21k, is going to be owning a BMW or Modern Merc. 😁
Hell, they're gonna be hard pushed buying a brand new Dacia Sandero!

That's what the Cycle to Work scheme is for.
