Hi got a slight problem which i havent seen or had before.

I have formatted a friends computer and installed xp home but every time i try getting into windows it tells me that the product is not activated, but it is as i have phoned Microsoft and got an activation code. I can get in to safe mode and it works fine but safe mode with networking doesn't.

Any help or suggestions would be useful.

After re-installing Windows, did you re-install the sound / graphics / network drivers? Is your network card simply not working because it's missing a driver (would that stop Windows completing its activation process?)? Check the Device Manager, any unknown bits of hardware in there?

I agree with what you're saying, as no driver installed would equal no internet connectivity on the ethernet adapter - however, I thought phoning Microsoft and obtaining an activation code allows you to activate Windows offline?

Alternatively doing it all online is very easy. A few clicks and you're done.

after you phoned microsoft and got the code, did you go through the activation procedure and enter said code to complete the activation? did it activate OK? Might be worth trying to activate it again with the same code.
