Dos_Box Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 I am very much looking forward to this, so finger crossed that they have treated the Tron world with respect. And a soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails to boot!

NIN have a LOT to live up to, as Legacy's soundtrack is easily one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time IMHO! But if the trailer is anything to go by, we might be good Looking forward to this, and will absolutely be watching this at the cinema. Some trepidation though - Jared Leto is one of the biggest ifs. Will hold judgement until I've seen it! 1

So composer wise, its the people behind The Social Network, Soul, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Bird Box, Patriots Day, Challengers, Empire of Light, Gone Girl. I like that they're moving to a more industrial harder sound as they enter the real world from the grid. Though I agree, the trailer looked really good (and I'm not a huge fan of the first film, and the second film is a brilliant album with a movie attached as far as I'm concerned) and then of course, you see Leto and you think "Urgghhh... I hope this is Blade Runner/Dallas Buyers Club/Requiem for a Dream Leto and not DCEU/Morbius/House of Gucci Leto!" 1

To me, soundtracks aren't just about having banging tracks - they should transport you into the film. I'd rate almost anything by John Barry, but especially Somewhere in Time and Dances With Wolves, John Williams (Star Wars, Superman, Raiders) or Hans Zimmer (Inception, Gladiator) and certain scores from other composers well above Tron: Legacy. Heck, I'd rather listen to Andrew Powell's much maligned score for Ladyhawke before Daft Punk. I'm in a very small minority with the latter, though. Mind you, it did used to get used a lot during ice dancing performances back when that was more in the public eye.

No need to sell me on NiN - introduced to them mid 90's thanks to Quake Still, there's only 2 ways to know if this film will be good. 1. Go and see it and think "Yes, that was good" 2. Wait for the Guardian to review it. If they give it 1 star and call it utter tripe, it will be the best thing since sliced bread. 3

I'm very tempted to go and see what they have said about the Minecraft Movie now. My son went to see it last night and to say he was unimpressed would be an understatement.

But then again, they gave Chernobyl a 3/5 so expect the same level of review consistency that the Grauniad gives to sub-editing. 🤣 1
