MIS for an Academy Trust

Hi

 

Does anyone work for or had experience working with an academy trust that has an MIS solution that is trust wide so all schools on the same MIS allowing someone at the trust to access data for all schools and report on such accordingly?

 

If not does anyone have any thoughts on this or what they would do perhaps?

Our school in the next few weeks is becoming a Multi-Academy Trust which will take on a failing school. We have all been told that our job description will not change for now but that might change over time.

 

Be also interested to know about data managers who work in a Multi Academy Trust and know if they have 1 Data Manager who manages data across the trust or just have data managers in each school within the trust or do Data Manager in each school work together and able to access each others MIS system

I work in a multi-Academy Trust. As things stand for us there is no joined up thinking - we have separate MIS for each Academy, some with SIMS some with CMIS and each of the Secondary Academies has its own Data Manager - at the moment. They are working on a plan with GroupCall to pull information from all Academies into one central point, so that there can be some work done centrally using something like Crystal Reports. Moving to Progresso was also discussed a while ago, with the plan being that once one school had successfully moved over and were happy, the other schools would all move too. Progresso has a 'Federation' option, where you can centrally manage the whole system and have an overview of all data from all schools.

 

We'll have to wait and see, but data seems to be very low down on the priority list bizarrely, so I don't expect any major changes any time soon.

Bizarre in someways but someways not so, as every school has different data requirements and they are likely to become more different as the NC framework is removed.

We're about to start a MAT but are already part of a large collaborative and looking to operate in similar ways too.

Our Director of Finance is very keen to investigate PS Financials as an alternative to FMS. The system looks nice and clean and seems to offer all of what he wants to be done.

The way the software would work in a MAT environment is that each school would be set up as its own company, and users created with delegated permissions to operate each area.

From a technical viewpoint the software would be installed on a server here with me and accessed via remote connection in other schools when required.

 

In terms of other MIS requirements we will probably stick with SIMS.
