Paxton.. Central or cloud(?) Is this a thing?

Given we have multiple sites in our Trust running Paxton onprem, is there such a thing as Paxton Central or Cloud that can be used to manage each of the individual sites rather than having to visit each site?

 

We are using Paxton Online at our schools but this is very limited to what we want to do.

Thanks. Am i right in thinking that this needs to be installed at one site and the reat of the sites connect to Paxton10 or Paxton10 in installed on a cloud server and link all the Paxton systems to it?

Nope, not at the moment unless it's via a VPN client.

Paxton 10 would work, without having VPNs. However if you're on net2 then there would be considerable cost to replace the controllers.

 

You do have to have a NUC type device at one site, however no special networking.

All sites are on Net2 with a laptop or PC running the main database installed by our door security company.

 

Back to the drawing board i think.

We have one Net2 server running for multiple sites, as long as the sites are connected together just add the controllers to one server as kierans says.

 

I'm not quite sure what the difference is between Paxton 10 and the normal net2 server and using he Paxton connect app.

 

Does anyone know, do you not need the server and the controllers connect to 'the cloud'? Are new controllers needed?

You should probably fix that first... Luckily it's dead simple.

spin up VM, install net2

 

Import

You can’t have same subnet and range if you are using a Site-to-site.

Doors can be on a different subnet to the main server, in fact everything can be in different subnets as long as they are routable.

 

We run our main database on a server in Azure and then Site-to-site to each site and connect to each controller.

We also have Pro so we can control the doors from our mobiles remotely.

Yeah this is why you don't take advice from the cabling guy. I keep my Net2 server in a different subnet and IP range.

 

I don't give cabling guys advice on how to splice fibre or terminate patch panels, I may watch but I never chime in.

Just a quick word of caution, one central net2 server is great but I would advise getting all acus on site to be ethernet net2 plus. Or at least taking your time to move them over.

Data wire takes forever to push updates and can fail (However some fire alarms require this) I had to restore from backups to rectify and replace a controller when it went wrong, and it seemed to be the data lined units with the issues (Sites that were net2 + with ethernet were fine) It meant I didn't have time to fully check everything as it was a rush to put everything back working

I think we might be going back to NUCs as the landlord tennat/Door groups takes a lot of managing. Every site seems to need 30 time zones per door - Has anyone got any screen shots (With redacted stuff) how they have groups / permissions /time zones work and can the caretakers edit time zones for everyone or is it locked to a door group. We have Pro software unfortunately on the site I encountered issues at

They don't need to be on the same subnet. We run one central controller for our schools and they talk back from their individual subnets over our WAN. As long as the traffic is routed it's fine.
