Hi everyone. We are days away from our switch over to Bromcom. Something that has come up is when Teachers send messages out through Bromcom.

We are being told by Bromcom that all replies from parents come back to a generical email address rather than the teacher that sent out the message.

For those that use Bromcom, is this the correct way it behaves?

We're not using it yet, but I believe that is the way it works.

Yes for bulk messages, but you can turn on the option for parents to communicate direct with teachers and vice versa.

That sounds workable. Thanks for helping to clear that up for me.

While I think about it - you may want to change the default permission for staff as I believe it will allow them to send SMS out, at 5p a go.

We only allow a couple of admin staff to do this, the rest have to use email.

Plain text email (which will either go via MCAS or Email if parent not signed up) is a little broken at the moment with the updated MCAS app - it strips all the formatting out at the parents end.

Hopefully being fixed soon.

So I'd stick to SMS (which will go via SMS or MCAS if signed up) or HTML Email (Which always goes via E-Mail)

When you set up Bromcom you set a generic email address in the settings, e.g. donotreply@..

When you send an email out that is the default.

However, you can edit that default while writing the email (it's just a textbox) and put in a different address, e.g. absence@...  Not everyone has that permission - you can block some from editing the "from" address.  Changing the from address changes it only for that email, not every email going forward.

We use Office 365 for our email.  Donotreply is the email address we authorised for SMTP in Bromcom.  If you want to send as if absence@ then you need to give donotreply@ delegate access to the absence inbox in O365 admin.  That way, it allows donotreply to send using the absence@ inbox, and then parents reply direct to absence@

It does take a little planning but we identified 5 key inboxes that we use to communicate with our parents, e.g, absence, trips, and just gave donotreply delegate permissions on those inboxes for "send as".  Works perfectly.

Feel free to get in contact if you have any queries.

@taz, we've just moved across to Bromcom from Sims and have setup the 365 Mailbox in the way you've described, giving our generic email address delegated access to several other mailboxes. It doesn't appear to be working though, as whichever email address we put in the From box of a message in Bromcom, it will only send from the generic account.

Please can you confirm if this is still working for you in the way you have described?

Thanks.
