penfold_99 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 HI All Is anyone else have trouble importing results from ocr? All results are failing when imported into SIMS.net
PhilNeal Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 We've had a few reports of this and there is a solution available on SupportNet. Basically try again and on your fastest machine.
GAS Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Hi, We had problem with EDEXL/GCE when we was importing from workstation, I imported directly on server was ok. Good luck. Ajay
tech-man Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Only issue we had was with Edexcel, with students that have joined from other centres, and Edexcel using the previous UCI and not the one we sent them..... none of the other exam boards have this issue, they use the ones we send them. Any ideas? This is a yearly annoyance...

Hi Phil, We have imported on the server this stop the OLE provider error. But the issue we have is E1 on during the import in Exam Organiser. E1 is KB54889 - E1 Error when importing results - Examinations Organiser The resolve the above is says to Right click the series and refresh basedata and import the missing element. The problem we are having is that all the elements are ticked already. But still failing during the import. Any ideas?
alan-d Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Try logging into SIMs on the server itself and import from there. It worked for us
penfold_99 Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Are you on August release of SIMS .net ?? No, but we have done the Exam Embargo Patch
PhilNeal Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Sorry Penfold that is beyond my knowledge. Please try your support desk. Thanks Phil
penfold_99 Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Sorry Penfold that is beyond my knowledge. Please try your support desk. Thanks Phil Tahnks Phil, I going through our LEA at the moment, OCR have admitted there was a problem with the files but didn't say was the problem was.
matt40k Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 We just say log on the server to import them. Anyway, with regards to the Embargo patch (and August) You can still access the results. We've just had a school contact us, if you have JUST class teacher access, the V.7 is blocked (within SIMS .net) and also within Exams Organiser (v.6), however if you run a report within Exams Organiser, it WILL print the results!!! No joke, All users with access to the Examinations Organsier module, which includes class teachers, will be able to run the reports to view the results.
PhilNeal Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 So if I understand you that is how it is meant to be! Anyone with access to Exams Organiser is trusted.
matt40k Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I think you miss understand. The Embargo patch stops everyone BUT the exams officer, SLT from access the results the day before the kids etc find out the results. However, ANYONE who has Class teacher, the default recommend group that every teacher, ie the people you want to stop access the results a day earily, CAN get on to Exams Organiser, run the report and basically, defent the whole point of the Embargo patch. You with me?
Mcshammer_dj Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I did read somewhere that there are issues with the dates on the emargo and you may need a patch
Mcshammer_dj Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 This should help: SIMS Exams Embargo Dates 2008 Patch The Exam Embargo dates are still pointing at last years date and hence any Sims .net users who has access to the Student details screen will be able to view the Exam Results on the Results Embargo days this August. Focus | Student | Student details | Select pupil | Links panel | Exams This issue will be addressed in the August 08 release. If you are unable to upgrade to this release prior to the Exams results day, patch 12107 is available to hide the Exam results in the student details | Links panel for these two days. Please raise a call with you local support unit quoting KB81663
matt40k Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Even after apply the patch and\or the August release you can still as A BASIC user, with CLASS TEACHER access, get the exams results a day earily by running a report within Exam Org.
penfold_99 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 We are still unable into our OCR results due to a problem that could or could not be related to base data. Capita have looked at our installation and can't see anything wrong but apparently a Business Analyst has been assigned but can't put any time on is as "it doesn't look good". I am having to wait until tomorrow for other exam organiser people to come in to look at our data as there all on holiday today. CAPITA why let support people charged with looking after exam organiser go on holiday during the two exam period????? I am not holding out any hope of OCR import successfully on wednesday, this will make us unable to provide information about our school results to media, county etc. NOT GOOD!! CAPITA Pull your finger out and sort this problem!

CAPITA Pull your finger out and sort this problem! We have successfully been able to import our OCR Results now, the underlying issue was a invalid header in the OCR results file. This WASN'T a capita issue, I would like to apologise to capita and our LEA support team for the comments made above as they were unjustified given the underlying issue.
