Hello,

I wanted to ask what Microsoft licenses other places use for staff and students please.

In addition, do you enable all the apps with the license or just some?

We use Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty for staff and Microsoft 365 A3 for student use benefit for students.

Thanks

We use Faculty A3 for most staff and the Student version for all students. These just have everything on.

We've got some staff like catering and governors who just have A1+P2. Most of the time these just have email or email and teams licenses.

Used to be all A3 for all staff but as all our established staff already had teams phones licenses and we were rolling our power bi pro to them the cost of a3+powerbi pro+teams phone was more or less the same as a5 which already includes those so we moved them to a5 and get true benefit of all the a5 services and student benefit.

Thanks, is that Exchange Online P2 for the other staff?

Our college decided to stick with A3 and buy teams phone license on top.

Curious, but what do you do with PowerBI then please?

I assume it'll be Entra ID P2 in terms of things like Risk Based conditional access/advanced MFA policies etc

Yes (sort of), but be careful as there's now 2 streams of edu licensing.

The Microsoft 365 Education A3 licenses include Intune.

The Office 365 Education A3 licenses don't.

M365 A5 for IT Support team

M365A3 for most staff

OfficeA1 for those who simply have an email account (MDSAs etc...)

Some M365 Apps (device) licenses for our shared machines.

Plus Visio add-on for some individuals.
