Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to start this topic, or if there's a more appropriate section.I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a good AI voice recording and note-taking tool?In the past, we've tested Plaud.ai, but there were too many privacy and data protection concerns. The built-in systems from Microsoft, Google, and Samsung are also quite poor and tend to miss a lot of the text when taking notes and summarizing. If anyone has come across a good product or software they’re using for work to record meetings and then summarize the notes while ensuring GDPR compliance, please let me know. I’d also appreciate hearing about your overall experience and feedback.Thank you!

If you have Google Workspace, a Gemini Education Enterprise license will do this. The Meeting notes in Google Meet are very good - to the point of being a bit creepy. You also get transcripts as well. Not cheap - but certainly works and you get all the AI bell and whistles in the other tools as well. The Meet, meeting not are probaly one of the most useful things.

Are you both talking about the same thing here, or something subtly different? I'm wondering if the experience from the first quote is possibly due to either a slightly older version (from even just a few months ago) or possibly the microphone / other hardware used?

I was recently asked to provide access through Google Workspace so someone could log in to a website and read notes taken by an app called Otter.ai.

Didn't pay too much attention to the detail of the app as we weren't using it, only viewing notes someone else shared, so not recommending/promoting it.

I think OneNote can do this, isn't it?

I'd agree that Gemini works pretty well when transcribing Google Meets. However, our staff have been trying to use it to record face-to-face meetings and, perhaps understandaby, it seems to struggle to differentiate speakers.

Has anyone found an app or Google extension which makes it more usable for face-to-face meetings? Or would another service (Otter.AI?)  be a better solution for that purpose?

Our clerking team are trialing Scriba (dot co dot uk) at the moment and initial reports (three or four meetings) are positive, in terms of support, quality of minutes and timesaving.

You'll need a decent external microphone for big meetings but it's not bad.

HoD has just tried something on his phone (no external data transfer) for dept meeting minutes.  Really quite impressive.  Not verbatim, but a good summary, even when someone goes off track later to a previous topic; it adds it where it should be.  I'll try to get the name.

Just looking for data transcription tools - slt are waking up to it. Suggested Scriba and Neurameet to them. Both look good

Referring back to previous comments, Teams has a Speaker Recognition feature. You do need a Teams Room Pro licence (around £40/year/room for Edu) and a decent (ideally Teams certified) mic.

Google doesnt use biometric data (voice) to differentiate different people and goes by who attends the meeting.

Lots of the others use biometric data processing (where?), which one can opt out of being processed.  Although you can record, you have no right to process someones voice.

Surely you can tell who's talking by the fact that they're emitting sound from their user on the meeting. If you're transcribing you're processing their voice anyway
