Unifi - Guest Portal not Redirecting on connection

Morning All,

 

Have an annoying issue, trying to get a guest portal up and running on our UniFi system. Have created the SSID as Open and then told it to use Hotspot manager.

 

But when i connect on my phone i don't get redirected to the landing page for a voucher? but i am on the right network as the IP is in correct range.

 

I've tried turning off secure portal and HTTPs redirection but no luck!

Can you access the gateway ip/voucher ip in a web browser?

Unsure as cant find the Hotspot portal URL.

 

I can't ping the GW or UniFI key. It's the same VLAN as our current guest network which is working fine

Have you got you Unifi Server and Gateway in the Authorisation Access section on the Portal setup?

I did put in subnets of all 3 to try and no luck but will test again now made a few more changes! Was unsure if it was the FW that was blocking the traffic to it but cant any rules blocking it

Testing on windows i get directed to the IP:8880/guest.....

 

But says a network change was detected and doesnt load...

 

Been looking at the firewall and saw was a deny from the guest VLAN for input to the GW but shouldnt matter as only it does allow dhcp and dns (dhcp works as picks up IP). Tried adding in a rule for anything from guest network can talk to the Unifi Controller but still no dice

 

If i take the guest portal URL it does work on our main network just not the guest....

Got it working... had to create a couple of firewall rules to allow port 8880 to the controller along with moving it before the block all rule! Cheers for help

I ran into a similar issue with my UniFi guest portal a while back. Make sure the captive portal is actually enabled in the controller settings; it’s easy to overlook. Also, check your firewall settings to ensure nothing’s blocking the traffic. Sometimes, just rebooting the access points can clear up weird glitches. It worked for me when I was stuck, so hopefully, that’ll help you out too! Good luck getting it sorted!

Ours is setup so they are redirected to a google sites page where they can access school resources but it fails half the time. I end up going through a loop of having to input credentials again and eventually it gets on the WIFI. Very sporadic. I did have the google site on the pre auth list though so that might be something.
