Google Web Services - Geolocation Issue - Help!

Hi,

Posting on here as a last ditch effort!

 

I have a site based in Huddersfield, UK.

 

When browsing the web on any device, domained or not, I get Polish search results.

If I do a WhatIsMyIP, my ISP is TalkStraight SchoolsBroadband and the IP provided locates me as in the UK - all fine!

 

However when using Google Web Services, such as Google.com to search, maps or YouTube - it thinks any device coming from this schools external IP is in Poland.

I've isolated my network and plugged directly into the router, so it isn't something on my side.

 

TalkStraight have passed it to Google as they think the IP is weirdly cached somewhere on their end.

I've used this Google report form multiple times over the past few weeks to no avail.

I've tried to log a ticket with Google Partner, as we're an MSP with Partner support but as its a Office 365 customer and not in Google Workspace, they're not willing to help.

 

If I manually change my regional settings within Chrome or Edge, this works but only for a limited amount of time until it reverts. Definitely not a browser issue as it does the same on interactive screens, BYOD devices etc.

 

This is causing a significant issue as staff use YouTube as a learning resource and most vids are region locked, the ones that play have Polish ads etc.

If Google located the site as the UK, all would be fine

I have asked the question this morning, I did think this would be the next step with both parties not providing an insightful response.

Swapping IPs might help, however I feel your pain.

My home is rural with a Starlink and my IP is known from the Berlin PoP for Starlink so I get German everything. Fine for the most part until you want the price of a phone, euros, or you watch twitch and get ads for German shoe makers with full German dub.

 

SL suggest it's not a fault with the service. I agree, but I imagine it's just a pain to change it.

 

I imagine they could, temporarily, NAT you to something else and see if it goes away.
