Theldron Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Hi all, Happy Friday. Sorry more Unity issues. I have got Unity and Visual Studio installed in a classroom, but when students go to preferences and external tools they can't select Visual Studio as it doesn't show up and they can't navigate to it through the C drive. Staff can. Is there any config file to point Unity to Visual Studio or anyway to set this? Thanks
Theldron Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 Found the solution if anyone else has this issue, after posting on the Unity support forum. "The underlying storage for the code editor path is registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unity Technologies\Unity Editor 5.x\kScriptsDefaultApp_h2657262712 which should have a binary value pointing to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Community\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" I set it all up on a computer, then exported the registry key, converted to xml and then copy and pasted the binary value into a registry item I created in GPP. Seems to be working.
