sofiarezende Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Hi, everyone. Really hoping someone here could help as I have no idea what else to do. I use CMIS for work as a timetabling officer. Since we mostly work from home and the programme is installed on a campus computer, we access it via the Remote Desktop Connection app from our Windows laptops. I've always alternated between docking my laptop and not. Everything was fine until one day when I was not docked, the laptop screen "blinked" and the blue part of CMIS -- the one containing the timetable graphics -- was suddenly blown out of scale with the rest. I'll insert a picture below, to illustrate: This is horrible to work with and I've fiddled around with every option in the configuration/display menu to no avail. The annoying part is that docking the computer to another display rescales the blue part back to what it's supposed to be, but it goes back to this horror show as soon as I disconnect it. Yesterday it miraculously stayed put when I undocked the laptop and I worked all afternoon with normal-sized graphics, but today it was already back to this nonsense. If someone could please help, I'd be forever grateful. Thank you in advance.
mavhc Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Windows 10 settings> system > display In turn click each monitor and see what Scale it's set to. Possibly it's not 100% and the crappy code in CMIS doesn't know what scaling is
DODICT Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Might be worth reselecting your cell style as well to see if that resets something - as recall them being a little erratic. Been a while since I've seen CMIS (Facility) in the wild ! I thought they had canned it not longer after binning Cloud School.

The Uni product is "different" to the Schools product IIRC and still under support.
sofiarezende Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Windows 10 settings> system > display In turn click each monitor and see what Scale it's set to. Possibly it's not 100% and the crappy code in CMIS doesn't know what scaling is Thank you for replying. I'd checked that before anything else... I can't change the PC display settings via Remote Desktop, but had a look when I was on the actual device and everything checks out, so it's not that. Not to mention, this problem only affects the blue part of CMIS, which I don't get -- surely if it was a scale thing it would impact the entirety of CMIS? Edited September 25, 2024 by sofiarezende
mavhc Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 If there's one bit that doesn't take scaling into account perhaps. Can you check the display settings on your local computer?

Unfortunately, I can't at the moment as it doesn't allow me to see/change anything via Remote Desktop. I did check one of these days when I had access to the PC, however, and everything looked right.

I have gone through every single configuration option in their menus, messed with the cell/timetable styles, etc. to no avail. This seems like an issue that is external to CMIS, I'm afraid.
psydii Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 The following usually works for me when applications / windows has become confused about scaling, display resolution and window size: Completely log out of the windows on the remote desktop session. If the remote system is your personal physical desktop at work, restart it. Then on the laptop with display zoom set to 100%, start a new Remote Desktop session. Deleting the default.rdp in your Documents folder might also help (do that before you start the new Remote Desktop session). If that was a mistake you should be able to recover the file from the recycle bin on the computer / in OneDrive. Because CMIS is an old old application, it may continue to struggle as the computer from which you start the RDP session changes its output screen resolution/display zoom, so even if the above works, you might need to repeat each time you hook up / disconnect from the external monitor on you laptop. IRD / CMIS / Old apps are quirky like that.
