Afternoon,

We're looking into upgrading our fleet out Lenovo T480's the issue is currently the lack of suitable replacements i can find in the refurb market. The T480's are fool proof, 2 SODIMM slots, up to 3 batteries every part easily replaceable. But now the CPU is starting to show its age for our users.

I'm starting to realise i may not get all the functionally in a newer model now, we've trailed a few other models, T14,T14s and a X1 Yoga all of which have too big of draw backs. Be it a small performance gain or soldered RAM (its a must that it has upgradeable RAM as we have a wide rang of job roles ranging from 8gb to 64gb).

Wanted to stay with Lenovo but looks more likely wont be the case! Thinking of going ham and go down the leasing route to see how much new models would cost (anyone know a decent leasing company?)

Thanks

Hi Dalek,

You are right, the T480 is a great work horse but im surprised that you dont feel the CPU is up to performance requiorements, what apps are you running? Perhaps they could do with new SSD's and 16Gb, after reloading the OS, that would give them a good boost of performance?

Maybe you can try T490 or T14 G1 with Ci7 which will have better performance and reasonable cost.

Best of luck and update us as to your choice and how you get on.

Cheers, Conrad
