Sonic007 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Hi. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Updated a Windows 2016 server to 2022 and it went through fine, keeping my existing files and data. Problem seems to be that clients can’t send anything to print. Printers and drivers are on the clients machines. Nothing changed on that side. Is there something Windows server 2022 needs fixing for my printing? Thankyou.
MichaelZahn Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 It seems like the upgrade might have affected the print server settings or permissions. I would like to recommend checking if the print services role is correctly installed and ensuring that all printer drivers are compatible with Windows Server 2022. Apart from that, verify network printer sharing permissions and settings.
jthompson Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Encountered a similar issue when I in-place upgraded our print server from 2019 to 2022. None of the queues worked after the upgrade. I rolled it back and have since built a fresh print server on 2022, with mostly all the same printers and drivers added to it, same Group Policy options for Point and Print, etc. no issue whatsoever. I don't know what the cause of it was, but for us it didn't appear to be any kind of driver incompatibility. Could you perhaps roll-back and try upgrading from 2016 to 2019 instead?
