Is anyone else having problems with VMWare since Broadcom took over?

Yesterday while working from home I noticed my VMWare said 'You do not have privileges to view this content'. My colleague in the office can login but only see one site, but we have two sites and its shared login for everyone.

The Broadcom website is next to useless because I can't create a new case, and when speaking to someone on the phone from Broadcom she told me because I do not have an enterprise account. But she could not advise how to make my account into an enterprise one.

Phoning for support is also useless as I am not down as a named contact so they won't speak to me. My line manager is off until Thursday and I don't know what to do.

The situation is not urgent YET, but I feel pretty uneasy being unable to see our second site.

I presume you mean the account management portal online and not something like vSphere/ESXi? I would expect outrage is Broadcom started locking customers out of their environments!

I can log into Broadcom fine, though I tried to open a new case and was met with "Inactive User or UserName not found." when I was redirected to "wolkenservicedesk.com". Though that could be related to the fact that we don't have an active support agreement in place.

We were advised that Broadcom were transferring in contract licenses keys from the VMWare portal to the Broadcom portal and that any license keys that were not in support were not being transferred over.

  • Only license keys that have an active support contract will be brought over to Broadcom systems. After approximately Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. (PDT) , if you have license keys associated with expired support contracts, you won’t have access to them in the Broadcom systems.

Not sure if this is affecting you.

We're chasing them because one of our sites hasn't migrated over, and it has an active contract in place until the middle of next year. Appreciate it's a big change, but they need to get on top of things before people lose even more confidence...

Our active licences haven't moved over, no entitlements at all infact! I can't create a ticket because their case management/helpdesk site (wolkenservicedesk) errors out when logging in. Seems to be a wide spread issue which has been happening over the past few days, lots of people complaining on the forums, no communication from Broadcom.. absolute dumpster fire. When our support ends i'm ditching ESXi

I'm thankful i backed up all of my licence keys, however at the moment I can't download the latest release of ESXi ( 8.0.3 ).

Migrating to hyperV, this is quite the upset. We're not wanted, so we'll move to hyper V, new backup software and some training we'll save money in the 2nd year.

Yep probably better off getting Windows Server DC licences, should be a lot cheaper than the renewals Broadcom offer for VMware.

It is a shame. ESXi is great

Hello, Millgate have a partner who is a Global Cloud provider they have an IaaS service whereby you can move your VMWare estate over to them and not have to pay additional VMWare costings as it is all included, due to Broadcom and their price rises, our partner has seen an increase in this area over the last few months and we can arrange a chat to show you how this could look for you, PM me if you would like to chat further :)

[Cynical me]That's great, as long as my Smoothwall stays up more than two weeks at a time without needing reboot[/cynical]

[Realistic me whose renewal for 224 cores is due in less than a fortnight]I've just messaged Jess![/realistic]
