So I think I have found an interesting one and just not looking at it right & missing something fundamental to get an answer.

We have Smoothwall device all working fine. We have laptops that are Intune managed and sign on to Wi-Fi with DPSK and RADIUS. This allows authentication with Smoothwall and filtering based on groups, either in AD or Entra.

If that laptop is then plugged into the network, it becomes unauthenticated. This is obvious when I thought about it, auth was done on RADIUS and it is now on a wire, so not on RADIUS. But how do I authenticate the user? The laptops do not use the AD network so not authenticated there.

Is there a way to automatically authenticate an Intune device with Smoothwall. Or am I left to use an SSL login page?

Wired Radius would be one option but requires switch and port configuration as well as additional NPS set up. Depending on the target users here I'd go with a Login page for wired connections to encourage use of the WiFi and avoid wear and tear on network ports.
