AV Install costs

So were due another round of AV touchscreen installs.

 

However our budget is tighter than ever this year and was wondering what everyone is currently paying for a standard install (65" Screen)?

 

i.e De-Install existing IWB and ceiling projector, Solid wall inc 5m cable kit

£~1600 i believe last time we had a screen installed. (Inc removal of Projector, fitting of IWB).

 

This included a cable kit, wall mounted faceplate for HDMI etc..

The last basic install we had was about £1800, but it was a 75" not 65" (we had a bit extra in the pot, that time), so £1600 for a 65" sounds about right, including deinstall / install / cable run and a soundbar.

 

I'm not on commission or anything like that, but we've always found AVPartsmaster to give the cheapest installation costs. You could perhaps save a few quid doing the de-install yourself, but, is it really worth the hassle to save less than a hundred quid.

 

You could also potentially save money on going for a no-name brand screen, most AV companies have some brand you've never heard of that they're selling dirt cheap if you ask.... whether that's worth the risk is up to you!

We've just had a round of quotes in, around £1,000 for the screen, £200 for the actual installation, around £100 for a basic wall-mount stand - probably around £1,300 total without VAT included. That doesn't include a cable kit, and your de-install might get costed a little higher as we're replacing existing touch screens, not de-installing projectors. We'll actually be spending a bit more on the stands as our 1870s-era walls need stands with the weight of the screen taken by floor-standing legs.

Our best quote so far for a BenQ RE6503A has been £1399 + Vat fitted inc de-install of existing install.

 

Seems about the going rate.

If your on about just install costs not the board then approx £350-450 per board depending on wall structure complexity of cable routes etc.

That seems very high, I presume that includes bracket, cable loom etc? we don't pay anywhere near that.

Yeh thats for the whole install cabling and removal of the old gear oh and a network drop for the board too. Didn't think it was that high to be honest (compared to the cost of other work e.g. network drops etc) and it's not a new school so walls and cable routings can be hard work. Still if I am paying too much I would be interested to know!

We pay around;

 

£40 for a standard bracket (for solid wall)

£100 for cabling + faceplates we supply to the installers (7m)

£~200 per board including deinstallation and reinstallation + running cables (we do it based on day rate at 2x installers @ £300 per day installing x3 boards a day)

+ Installation of any 3 compartment trunking / fused spurs to ensure the job is neat and tidy (paid for by facilities dept)

Apologies I didn't realise that included a data point installation, yes that does seem very reasonable. We pay £150 - £180 for a data point install alone.
