2097 Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 Hi , Any one using the Smoothwall cloud filter "Edge" addon ? We use this for our intune devices , seems to work great apart from the following If not disabled , Users can add a custom app to the side bar ( i.e. Youtube ) , this then bypass's all filtering ? ( within that window) Apart from disabling the sidebar , anything else that i need to disable that allows them to bypass this. Thanks ! 2097
tom_newton Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 That should be sufficient - we had to work with Microsoft to get that loophole closed!

Joeloman Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I think it's hard for Smoothwall to keep track of all the changes that happen in Windows and Edge. Mircosoft has this which can contain good information.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/education/windows/ Have you followed this guide?https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017297219-Install-Cloud-Filter-on-Windows-10-11-using-Intune-Multiple-Browsers As well as turning off USB so they can't bot some OS or get things they shouldn't into their computers:https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005387519-Block-USB-Ports-using-Windows-Group-Policy-Object-GPO

The only thing that is still allowed is Edge Extensions , Can we disable users from installing edge extensions ? will the Smoothwall client still work ? Thanks Luke Edited April 29, 2024 by 2097
tom_newton Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 AFAIK you can disable users from installing extensions - as yours will be force installed
Joeloman Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Here you will find more information about the Edge extension: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-manage-extensions
2097 Posted May 1, 2024 Author Posted May 1, 2024 Thanks followed this impero guide https://support.imperosoftware.com/hc/en-gb/articles/10590384691347-Managing-Edge-extensions-in-Microsoft-InTune Added the extension ID to allow and blocked all others.
