The office has been trying to print a Word document into a booklet format and are having problems with pages not in the correct order and pages upside down so have asked me to help but despite my best efforts I concede failure.

The document is set in Word as A4 and prints fine double sided on A4 but they want folded booklet style which is where the problems start.

I understand from Youtube the paper size and style should be set before adding anything to the document but that’s too late now. Any ideas what the settings need to be to get the document to print into booklets? As a workaround I have told them to save the document as PDF and print that as a booklet which seems to work but it would be good if it could be printed direct from Word.

I think this will also depend on the printer software. I've struggled with it in the past, given up, print it out double-sided, then booklet on the copier.

Uniprint on Canon MFDs.

I've had the same cries for help from admin staff regarding booklets. tried to sort and couldn't.

Doing it on the copier is the best way

One way to do this might be to export the Word document to a PDF first, and then print the PDF as a booklet using Adobe Reader. I think it has a better print dialog that gives you more control over this.

Yes, this is the way they ended up printing it.

Are you using a printer, with a fold and staple boocket maker attachment? On out Riso printer, with this attchment, it is the printer driver, that takes a document of sequential pages, and reorders them so they form a booklet.

I do wonder if Word and the printer are both trying to booklet. Causing, quite justifiable, confusion.

From what I can gather Word needs to be setup for booklets before adding text and there are templates for this but saving as PDF and using Acrobat to print in booklet does the job, just a shame Word cannot do this without using Acrobat.
