Sign In to Chrome Prompt

When opening Chrome we have started seeing a prompt that asks to sign in to Chrome and as Chrome is set as the default browser this happens even when running a shortcut URL.

 

Is there any GP changes that can disable this?

I've been looking at this lately because I wanted to do the opposite, I wanted to enforce signing in to the browser so that we were only manging Chrome settings in the Google Admin Console rather than having to keep Group Policy up to date too. All of our users have Google accounts though.

 

Anyway, I think this is what you need...

Is there any reason you don't want them to sign in? There are so many benefits that come with sign in and the positives far outweigh any negatives, if any!

Just dont want to see the extra splash screen. they are already presented with a chrome logon page with the @DomAin.sch.uk

You'll probably find that logging in via the splash screen will automatically login to any further Google logins once the browser has launched. So, it's better to do it this way. You can also control what domains can login to the browser using either GPO or the Google Admin Console, so it adds a level of safeguards to your system.

We are a primary and students don’t need a Google login especially the younger years.

Set via Group Policy for users to be automatically signed in, they won’t see a sign in or splash page.

That's just it, they don't have a Google login in the first place so we would still get the prompt.

Ah. Well my advice in that case is ditch Chrome! I removed Chrome a few years ago once Edge became Chromium, as we’re a MS school it just made sense.

Seconded if you are a MS school. We used to be on chrome a few years back. Switched to Edge & set to auto sign in with MS account etc.. its great, syncs bookmarks automatically etc.. with no input from user

Only for accounts accessing sensitive data. You could, with care, run secondary with a single login (under the context of those standards, although it would obviously fail immediately on safeguarding)

I'm not sure..I'm sure there is a way! We just did a fresh start & added a lot of relevant/useful bookmarks via GPO, staff can then add their own of course.

We’ve made everything run automatically and silently for Edge. Made the switch from Chrome seamless. Ensure you also set the bookmarks bar to appear by default.

Update:

I've updated the student policy and can confirm it works and no sign-in prompt appear.

Does anyone know if this policy will stop the option coming up that allows users to choose different chrome profiles? because we want to keep this enabled (some users have 2 profiles 1 for their HWB and 1 for our own google domain) and I wouldn't want that to disappear

That still shows up with that GPO enabled so you would be fine
