UniFi U6 - Outlet Mesh

Hi all,

 

I was wondering if anyone has deployed one of these (in the UK) ------ https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/collections/unifi-wifi-inwall-outlet-mesh

 

I know it states that it is for a EU outlet only, but surely an EU > UK adaptor would do the trick? I may be missing something really obvious here.....lol

Not used, but i tend to use meshing as the very last option. Always try and hard cable an AP if possible

I agree, and do it for the most part. This would be used in the school kitchen as there is currently no cabling infrastructure there. I am thinking something like this would be a cheaper alternative compared to a cable run.

Not used one, but have just used standard APs + a POE injector in similar circumstances. If you have a spare, you could test. Have also used Homeplug/Powerline when desperate.

Would I have issues integrating something like a homeplug in with my UniFi setup?

I understand you get what you pay for, but these kitchen staff will probably be using the internet for about 15/20 minutes a day max, so it doesn't need to be amazing.

I haven't noticed any degradation to the service, but the sites that have gone down this route are Primaries and use the "one input/one output" style. I'm pretty sure both "ends" need to be on the same ring main. More to the point, they need to be placed/labelled so that they don't get turned off/unplugged.

Pretty sure that wouldn't work, but this should:

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-wpa4220-kit/with a unifi AP on the far end - presumably powered with a PoE injector.

 

I had something similar at home years ago. Obviously anything peeling will depend on how your electrical supplies are wired, but I found them to be easier to connect than the instructions suggested.
