Paxton silencing

Hi All,

 

Have any of you successfully silenced the beep on a Paxton door card reader? We have a silence card which you are supposed to present to the reader to turn the beep off but it is still beeping on every card read. The spec sheet says it's for 'next generation' readers, but we don't know if our Mifare door readers are, or not. Any ideas?

This is a per-door setting, so you'll need to go onto the net2 software and deactivate the beep from there. Not heard of a card to do that!

Yes, we have this card - Net2 Silent Operation Card | Paxton (paxton-access.com) - however, it only works on certain versions of the controllers/readers. We have various versions of controllers and readers and some work with the silencer and some don't. The newer ones work, older ones dont.

Hello - is this the 'silent operation' check box, as that seems to have no effect at all, unless it requires the ACU to be reinstated or something like that?

Should be instant - just be sure you're doing the right reader as typically there will be 2 readers per door (inside & outside)

Did you present it within 2 minutes of power-up?

 

About – Following the release of our second generation readers that include Genuine HID Technology™, it is possible to reduce disruption for users by managing the reader volume using the Net2 Silent Operation Card. Present the card to the reader within two minutes of powering up the reader. The card will silence the reader beep.

Yep - we've done it within 2 minutes of power up. It may be that the reader we are trying is not 'second generation'...
