TheHyperTechie Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good company for iPad screen repairs? We have numerous iPads lying around that performance wise are fine, they just have cracks and aren't suitable for student use. I would replace them myself if I had the time!! Also on this topic, if you use iPads in your school, how do you handle the cost of screen repairs/maintenance? for example, we have an iPad in each class/department - if they cracked it, would you charge their department the cost of a replacement screen? Thanks.
howartp Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 https://www.justaskeden.co.uk/repair-recycle/insurance-breakfix We use their BreakFix "insurance" (not quite) service for all our 1-to-1's; five years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

howartp Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Thanks for the recommendation. Just out of interest (if you don't mind) how much are you paying for this service? is it monthly, yearly etc. We pay £75/device for three years. Up to 6 repairs per device (2 per year by default but they happy to scale it across), almost-no-questions-asked as long as it's not clearly intentional damage. We have ~500 devices per 3-year scheme with them so potentially 1800 devices "live" at any one time. They provide pre-paid packets and shipping packs that we put iPad in, tape it up, drop off at Post Office in village (2 minutes walk) - if we post Monday, it arrives Tuesday, they repair Tuesday/Wednesday and ship back to us, arriving Wednesday/Thursday, in general.
JRA Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 MacFixer for me. Darren has been consistently super. https://macfixer.co.uk/ Generally the maintenance costs aren't bad for us so I take them from the IT budget.
Dan2025 Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 I use a local shop, £60 a time for current gen iPads. Probably done 5 in the last 2.5 years. So hard to justify warranty.

Out of interest have you done any maths on whether it is actually worth the cost of these services versus the number of repairs that are completed per year for example as £37,500 per 3 years per 500 ipads strikes me as being a lot to spend on "what if it breaks" when you could put that £37,500 towards just buying 50 brand new ipads a year and using those to cover bad breakages?
Fox Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 I use a local mobile repair type shop in Hemel Hempstead and they charge up to £79 for a screen, I give them business every few months I think.
