mikeprice Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Hi all I've just been trying to submit a request for the council about fly tipping came across the normal problem with the photo I took as evidence - the image file was too big I normally open it in GIMP and re-export it at reduced quality - but I have to guess at a percentage and then check it I was wondering what other people use and if there is a better (FREE!!!) thingy for reducing image file sizes?? I know I used to do this when I was teaching DIDA at GCSE level to get the kids projects down below the maximum limit - but I have no idea about the best thing currently available thought you lot might have better ideas Thanks
timbo343 Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Fast stone image resizer brings down 6mb jpg / png files down to about 700kb if the preset is set to 50%. It's always my go to. 1
Mr.Ben Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I use the Image Resizer tool in Microsoft PowerToys https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/ It adds a link in the file manager context menu so it's really quick. 1
