timbo343 Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 So, this morning we and our primaries have come into work to find that docs.google.com no longer works on the Smoothwall. The only way to get round it is to HTTPS Do Not Inspect the Google Docs category and "Allow" the Google Docs category via guardian. Anyone else seeing this issue? I'm not sure if something has changed. 1
Chockster Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Same for us, and the same (hopefully temporary) solution. Wonder whether it's the category change that's done this? https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/11206334266268 1
timbo343 Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 (edited) Aye, it wouldn't surprise me and the change will have happened this weekend. It might be something to do with file hosting as we are seeing the categories File Sharing, Software Google, Google Docs, Google Docs and Drive being associated with this (Google Docs is one of our custom categories which contains docs.google.com). Adding a rule to near the top with category Google Docs allows users to use Google Docs. Edited December 18, 2023 by timbo343
Primus Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Same issue here, thanks for a wonderful Monday morning Smoothwall.
ITGuyNW Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Hmmm.. I've added "google docs and drive" to do not inspect under HTTPS but its still not allowing it.
tom_newton Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Is this the extension or are we seeing it on on-premise too?
timbo343 Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 Hmmm.. I've added "google docs and drive" to do not inspect under HTTPS but its still not allowing it. Have you got a rule in your normal HTTP Guardian rules to "Allow" Google Docs and Drive. This should solve it. 1
ITGuyNW Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Is this the extension or are we seeing it on on-premise too? on premises box, not checked cloud filter

tom_newton Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 OK, it has been narrowed down to a blocklist issue - a new blocklist is coming shortly. Whoever guessed "it was the blocklist changes" is at least 70% correct (another bugfix combined with these). 3
howartp Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Is there a guide on what should/shouldn't be set for Googly stuff somewhere? We're a google school but not sure our balance of: intercepting google search traffic allowing docs/sheets blocking sites.google.com is setup correctly. (We've not had any downtime this morning from blocklist issues....)

(We've not had any downtime this morning from blocklist issues....)Pretty much the same. Inspect HTTPS Google Searches though there is an issue with google.com searches on Android 13. Allow Google Docs and Drive category Block sites.google.com but allow our sites.google.com URLs to work and have a rule / category allow list for specific google sites. Always filter google.com! 1
timbo343 Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 Blocklist changes are out Temporary changes that were made have been revoked at my place and docs.google.com is still working. 1
tom_newton Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Some folks have reported issues with google meet - these should also be fixed now 1
