mole Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Hi So we are looking to roll out Smart Notebook 23 across a number of seminar rooms. We will not be installing any Smartboards of any kind probably some non Android based touch displays, with Smart Notebook software installed on the Windows PC should someone want to use it. Looking at the Smart website it says: Free with your SMART Board SMART Notebook Award-winning desktop software for creating engaging learning experiences with your SMART Board® – no subscription required. So does mean that Smart Notebook 23 is completely free and does not require any license, email activation of any sort? Having said that I've just installed it on my laptop and it fails to even open so that's not a good start for it. tia
Miscbrah Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) On a vaguely related note I'm rolling out v23 over the break as I'm assured it'll start issuing hysterical warnings to the staff about security vulnerabilities. Cheers SMART. Currently on v21 as v22 was so awful it didn't open at all where we are. I'd say before deploying have a good test or three on something and get those switches for the msi working as they should do - it's a little "fussy" shall we say. Rob_D Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 So does mean that Smart Notebook 23 is completely free and does not require any license, email activation of any sort? Yes. "Smart Notebook Basic" is free, but has some limited functionality (mostly around creating interactive activities), and overlays a watermark on the bottom right of each page if connected to a non-SMART, interactive display. https://support.smarttech.com/docs/software/notebook/notebook-basic/en/about/about-notebook-basic.cshtml We've been using Basic across the site for a few years now without any issues, but we do have SMART boards. 1
mole Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 Thanks both. Rebooted my laptop and v23 still not opening so joy, but not my job to make that work luckily.
