One Lan NTP - HDD Fail

Hi Everyone,

 

I have a OneLan NTP 675P box that has a clicking HDD at one of my schools, which I provide IT support for.

 

OneLan support says this model is no longer supported for a reimage/RMA repair.

 

 

Does anyone have a recovery image or any suggestions?

You would be better off replacing them.

 

I'm sure we had one of those boxes and HD failed - We ended buying new ones with HDMI out.

Do onelan signage still offer a publisher and player all in one unit? Without a monthly subscription?

Back in the day we used to use Ghost or similar to clone disks. Can you do that, jus make sure you identify the source and destination disks :-).

Yes! But I didn't make a backup before the mechnical disk failed

Ah if saying now the disk is failed, that won't work. But if it is still working just that it is clicking you might have a chance.

OneLAN are very protective over the NTB image - it's a custom Linux distro and (so they say) needs to be activated on their server before it gets sent out.

 

Unfortunately it's going to be buy new - and NTB's now require a 3 or 5 year license. With a 5 year license the overall cost is the same as it was for a new NTB originally, just going to sting you when renewal is due.

 

You didn't say if it's a one box solution or part of a full CMS setup? Maybe worth looking into other options?

I've fairly recently moved a school from OneLAN to A&K PADS with Crystal CMS. It seems to be working well for them. Might be worth a look.
