It looks nice, but it's Lian Li. They don't exactly have a reputation for low-cost goods, even if they're generally very good. Looking at other vendors (as your site doesn't have a price on it without logging in), it's £1600 at OCUK. I can't imagine you're selling it for much less. How many schools are going to swallow that kind of cost? I don't think any of the ones I worked for would have done. I'd also imagine that tempered glass would become a target for the less well behaved students.

 

Are there similar desks which don't cost as much?

It's not something that's come up for us, that's something our children do outside of school.

The table you linked to seems to have a screen embedded in the table surface itself, is that right? We've had a touchscreen version of that for several (7?) years, a standard front-of-classroom touch screen on a wheeled stand that can spin through 90 degrees to lay flat. I don't think it's ever actually been used flat, it just gets used in standard front-of-classroom mode. There doesn't seem to be much by way of dedicated content for flat-mode screens, and standard content on a large flat screen just means the top of the screen is rather far away and at an angle.

Correct the price is around £1500, but I've never seen a gaming table like this before. Very unique!

 

Been around for years, always been various concepts dating back to early 00s!

I think it's a piece of glass that lets you see inside the desk where the computer's innards are located. Just like a window on a normal case.

I don't think I could in a million years get that by our bursar, for what is effectively a desk and a PC case, even if we did offer eSports (which we don't).

My son goes to an e-sporty camp during the holidays. What they have is about 10-15 bog standard towers around the room. The only difference between it and every other computer classroom I've seen is that they're midi sized towers and they've got RGB on the cases and peripherals. I don't know what spec they are but I'm willing to bet the computer comes to considerably less than £1500 a unit.

Ah, right! Isn't that just decoration? Nice to have the computing hardware hidden away in the desk, but you could achive a very similar effect with an under-desk rackmount. Depending on the school, it looks like the kind of thing that would make a good GCSE DT final project - build a desk with built-in computer.
