Stone PC's 2019

Hey guys,

 

Wondered if anyone had experienced issues with Stone PC's from 2019 with keyboards and mice. We have about 12 of these and they constantly break keyboards and mice, as in they no longer work no matter what USB port you plug them in to. The count must be on about 20 at the minute. I've tried them in my PC and sure enough, they don't work. It's as if they're overvolting them or something. I think some of the ports are broken (possibly the side USB's) but I've never known it to wreck peripherals. Is there any setting in Windows or the bios that I can do?

You can buy little USB testers off amazon which tell you the voltage etc the USB port is putting out and tells you the amps the device is drawing so could use one to tell if the keyboard is pulling anything untoward from the port?

Cheers Potnoodle. I think I know what's causing it. The ports on pretty much all the PC's on the side are stripped. So I'm guessing they're plugging them into those ports, it doesn't work and breaks the peripheral and so when they try another working port around the back the peripheral is already knackered. I've taped all the USB ports on the side now.

We have 30 of these and they do exactly the same thing. They've always had this problem. The side ports will fail then about a week later they work again. We have to keep swapping to the front ports (not the middle one for some reason). They keyboards and mice are ok though so they haven't been damaged (obviously students pull keys off buts that's a different issue). Weirldy, USB sticks do work on the ports where keyboards and mice fail. A Stone engineer looked and was totally puzzled but in the end replace 8 motherboards and these are ok now so looks like might be a dodgy batch of boards.

Yes we had similar, from an order of about 250 Stones we had about 20 where the front facing middle USB port worked with USB sticks but nothing else, again fixed by replacing the motherboards under warranty
