chrisgreenwood Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Has anyone met this edge profile issue yet with one drive? Where they like duplicate the desktop icons to the point one teacher had 10,000 icons on her desktop And if you delete them, they come back If so, has anyone had the best way to deal with it? (we have to wait for microsoft to fix it)
free780 Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I've seen the same with Work Folders. Tried deleting the work fodlers database on the client and running the powershell repair commnad on the server. Still occurs. I can't replicate either. All I can think it s a bug introduced at some point in Edges release history and when the profile was created. Next step is probably to ask the user to delete their Edge profile and the shortcuts and re-create.
ckedu-local Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 If the icons are re-appearing when deleting, it most likely means they're not actually deleting them. Sometimes in the OneDrive client, you have to confirm the deletion of MANY MULTIPLES of files. A yellow icon appears over the cloud if this needs confirming. I've just been telling staff to have their laptop open side by side with their desktop and to delete them off both so they sync at the same time. There was an update in Edge to resolve the icons duplicating - just make sure you apply this. If you can't apply the update, you need to disable the briefcase icon on the edge client. In Edge > Settings > Appearance > Show briefcase .... set to disabled/off Hope this helps
