I've just had a lovely chat with Trend Micro about their handy USB blocking feature in the Worry-Free services, turns out it has no power to block SD cards. Considering we're blocking USBs as a security measure this makes it a bit useless...

Does anyone have a system they use to block SD cards which are inserted into slots on laptops? Should we just glue them up and use external card readers which we can control a bit? I need to allow certain cards to be used for photography so need some flexibility!

Thanks all!

Could you plug the camera in to a computer via USB, capture the camera's hardware ID and add that to your USB device allow list?

Cazab - Thanks, we'll have a go at this, I'm assuming the camera functionality wouldn't get blocked as its just USB storage being switched off, but maybe the camera storage would be?

DalekSec - Would take a while with over 300 laptops, but definitely a possiblility...

If the camera supports PTP (most of ours do - you may need to amend the settings) they should appear as a camera (with pictures) and not storage.
