“Moving to Bromcom has been a breath of fresh air.”

Corinium Education Trust is a growing and forward-looking multi-academy trust based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. They decided to move away from their legacy on-premises Management Information System during 2022 and knew that they wanted the flexibility and cost savings associated with a cloud-based MIS. However, the first cloud MIS that the Trust selected – Arbor – did not meet the school’s needs, and lacked the functionality and flexibility that they needed to meet the aims of their schools and the Trust overall…

We moved over 5 years ago to Bromcom, I've used SIMS.Net and CMIS previously so Bromcom was a complete change from the "Standard" school MIS - much more intuitive and user friendly.

Migration went well back then, but can imagine its much easier now that they have migrated so many other schools. If you are planning on migrating, its important to get a team together with all the key staff and take training opportunities, so that you launch with confidence.

The new shared community forum is so beneficial, as newly converted schools can ask questions of the more seasoned users.

My School in NW London has just rolled out Bromcom in September moving away from Progresso. It has been like a jump forward in time! The way we can pull our data and customise settings is soo much more intuitive and powerful. The initial manager who brought us on was amazing and supportive to our needs. Migration was Ok-ish. I am one of the key drivers at the school and the use of the videos and CSM have been a great support to us. I love the online community and the ability to post a question and receive a response within a few minutes/hours!

Thanks for sharing this link. I was always a bit hesitant with accepting the AI function within Bromcom! After reading this I may now look at giving this a go!

Fear of change was the biggest barrier for us, but most of it was just ignorance from staff (and myself at first). I'd advise anyone wanting to move to go get it demoed, but also test the system and give it to some staff to have a look at. We quickly worked out it was a far better system but also would help reduce complexity of our 3rd party ecosystem. Once SLT realized this and the savings it made they got on board and we haven't looked back. It needed certain people on board including myself as the network manager, but speaking to each one individually and getting them to the demos really helped. We're happily using Bromcom for 4 years now and would never go back to a "legacy" MIS.

Through years of development and experience, our expert Onboarding team have streamlined the process into 4 simple steps:

1 - Discovery

2 - Migration

The Migration step for us was probably the hardest. Progresso (our old MIS) was not very forgiving which meant a lot if the data had to be manually inputted or imported. The transition step was probably the best for us. Staff welcomed it with opened arms once they could see what Bromcom could do for us!

Official: Create Partnership Trust switches to Bromcom MIS!

Deputy CEO of Create Partnership Trust, Chris Dyson, said: "We are delighted to be transitioning to Bromcom Changing our MIS was not a decision taken lightly. However, two key factors influenced our choice - the need for more user-friendly reporting and the convenience of sophisticated and wide ranging online payments for parents.

Bromcom's 'one-stop-shop' solution also promises significant enhancements in areas such as assessment, extracurricular activity management, and communication. We are eagerly looking forward to our four primary schools making the switch."

Bromcom MD, Ali Guryel, said: "We are very proud to welcome Create Partnership Trust to the Bromcom family. Like many other MATs in recent months, it became clear to them that Bromcom was an improvement on their existing MIS and the solution that can help them to achieve their goals."

I came into my current post after our Trust had already previously switched MIS to Bromcom, so although I missed the original switchover period I was still very apprehensive about learning a new MIS. I had previously been so used to SIMS and had never heard of Bromcom so was worried about learning a whole new system on top of taking on a new job role. I thought I would struggle and it would take a huge amount of time to learn how to use the system, however I found this was not the case at all and consider myself to be quite a proficient user now! I found all the training and guides really useful, and on top of this, the processes are intuitive and easy to navigate, so much so that you can work things out for yourself without needing the guides. Not only this, it's so much nicer to have a modern MIS as opposed to the archaic SIMS design, which I know is just really a quality of life aesthetic improvement, but it makes a lot of difference!

Cloud MIS isn’t only about anytime and anywhere access, but about the ability to develop and improve solutions with agility. Phil Wainewright, CEO of Procullux Ventures, has produced a video exploring the developments in cloud technology in the past few years, and explains why not all MIS are able to deliver the same benefits to users. Check it out, and let us know your thoughts: Procullux Ventures: Cloud computing and the schools MIS market | Bromcom

We've found having a cloud MIS revolutionary in our school.

Certainly from my point of view as the administrator there are no more updates, it just works and is always up-to-date. I don't need to do backups or pay for licenses for software or buy and upgrade new hardware.

From a teachers point of view, they benefit from anywhere access, reliable updates (I'm looking at you solus!!), any device access and loads of other benefits.

I still think Bromcom (and actually all cloud MIS's) have work to do on its scalability and capacity planning, as well as making the pages and core functions and reporting quicker. But it's good to see this work happening as seen by the recent improvements on the MCAS user account pages.
