Hosted Sims - Your latest thoughts please

We are a small school with only 3 users connected to our Hosted Sims, which sits on a workgroup pc running windows 10, we are looking towards a 5 yr future proof solution.

The following barriers are in place.

Staff refuse to consider moving to the cloud or any other MIS due to horror stories encountered with other schools that have moved over.

In 2 years time Windows 10 will no longer be supported for security updates.

The hosted Sims is not supported on Windows Server 2022.

 

My solution to SMT and recommendation based on the above barriers is as follows.

Replace our current server Running Server 2012r2 (End of Life) and installing 2 VM's running server 2019. VM1 Running Main DC, VM2 Hosting Sims.

I am asking does the above solution seem the most practical or can we have a Sims hosted server running on windows 11?

Your expert thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

FYI installed locally on your network does not equal hosted sims.

Hosted SIMS in related to this thread refers Hosted sims or SIMS connected where sims is managed by ESS themselves not to be confused with other parties services that do a similar thing.

This is exavctly our setup at the oment. Two VM's, one being a DC for the network side of things and then one for Sims.

I was looking at doing away with the servers so seeing if we could remove the Sims VM and so go hosted instead.

 

I think I will still hold on the my on prem Sims VM as right now it doesnt all sounds too great.
