TwistedHelixis Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Just wondering if I can use the idrac card from a Dell PowerEdge T420 in T430 server? Ar both cards identical? The reason is, I believe the T420 card has the full management licence and the one currently in the T430 has the basic licence. I assume the licence is stored on the card???
Steve21 Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 You can export them via the idrac web UI but I don’t think they work across generations (unless it’s the same actual idrac version etc 7/8/9) Steve
computer_expert Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) The idrac licence is tied to the servers' service tag in 12th gen and newer servers (your T420). 11th gen machines with idrac 6 (eg. the R710/T710) were the last ones where the licence was stored on the plug in idrac module. The 12th gen plug in module is just the extra ethernet port and SD card slot (if you have idrac enterprise with the SD card bits). Edited August 13, 2023 by computer_expert
Davit2005 Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 I jus bought my iDrac full license for R730 home server off ebay, it was quite cheap.
