binky Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I am setting up a brand new network on Windows Server 2008 and I have built some stations on XP SP3 and the first couple of times you switch the pcs on they boot quickly and now they have just slowed down taking 35min+ to apply computer settings/network. I also have Roaming Profiles which take an age to logon (everything is redirected using the registry and the profiles are made up of a 208KB User.dat file).
jsnetman Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Your symptoms are likely to be an incorrect DNS setup, all my experience of that type of slow startup are all DNS issues.
cookie_monster Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Try with a user that doesn't have a roaming profile so we can rule that out, as jsnetman says it sounds like a classic DNS issue.
