Screenshot util to avoid huge word/pub files

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone uses a program to screenshot as we have a problem in the school where students use the print screen button and then paste straight into Word/Pub, the end result is a document containing a series of screenshots totalling 70mb which is a pain on quotas, computer running the file and printing.

 

What I would like to do is obtain a small util that will screenshot the screen, convert it to JPG and hold it in the paste buffer, that why I can bind it to an alternative key.

if your pasting them into work, and making them tiny (as most seem to) just use the re-optimse photo option in word which re-jiggles the photo and reduces it size amazingly. I think the option is re-optimise or could be re-size but its in the picture options.

Get the admin bar - [ see below ] and use the screen capture exe thats in the zip file. The .exe is called ZAPGRAB2 - [ its a stand alone exe which should work from any directory ]

you can definatley check out autoIT script for a UDF on screen grabbing. Ive made multiple (because i always lose my .au3's) screen grabbing programs with autoIT Script. Very easy and the .dll it uses allows jpg resoultion changing.

Agree with sysman_mk - Gadwin is brilliant. Allows you to set defaults for capture so that you don't end up with massive BMPs etc

 

worth trying to let people know about how they can shrink the images in the document but not everyone will bother/remember/be able to do it :-)

 

Another alternative which will help is using the DOCX format - this zips up the contents which helps to shrink bitmaps.
