Mobile Device Management

In a few months I will be refreshing our business mobile phones. I want to take the opportunity to enrol them all in to a management solution, but I am not sure what the best option is for us. We have about 150 phones, 99% Android. The two solutions that I have available are Google Workspace or Office 365 (Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty).

 

I want to be able to get visibility of who has what device, what OS version they are running and potentially push apps out to the devices (they are all company owned).

 

Can anyone suggest one provider over another?

I looked at InTune for this and the app management is prohibitively awkward, having to whitelist specific versions of apps, and each subsequent update...

Make sure when you are getting phones you get Android Enterprise ones, there is a website that lists them but cannot find it at the moment.

 

Do you have any management tools now that has MDM to be part of it, or any tablet devices already enrolled in one?

I don't have any tools at the moment, our phones are entirely unmanaged apart from the staff using there business email account (Google Account via ADFS) to sign into the Play Store and Google App on the phones.

As long as you aren't managing apps, it's a piece of cake. If you try to start manging apps it's PITA because each update has to be approved manually or the device won't get it, there is no 'pre-approve subsequent verions of this app' function like there is in the Google MDM.
