[ipad] iPad Exam Restrictions?

Hi

 

We have a student who usually uses an iPad to work, she is visually impaired and would use the Apple accessibility features to complete her work. This student is part of the Supported Learning Centre and is accessing some Essential Skills Exams this summer.

 

Supported Learning use iPads for use in classrooms, The college use PCs otherwise exclusively.

 

What do people do to restrict iPads for use in exams?

 

We use inTune as our MDM

We haven't used an iPad for exams, but you could put the iPad in Kiosk mode (which Intune can do - but I haven't tried it). I think kiosk mode limits the iPad to only using the one specified app.

 

If you need access to other apps, you could create a new group in Intune and remove access to the browsers...or restrict Internet access another way, such as changing the proxy or putting the iPad onto a SSID/VLAN that has no Internet access.

We use Mosyle just recently had to do this for a similar student specifically using a scientific calculator here is a list of apps approved Exam approved Apps VI (3).docx

@Stevecee - just wondering how you got on with this? We have a student who is visually impaired and will be using an iPad for their mocks in January - so wanting to get it right ready for the public exams next summer.

well i worked with Exams and IT services to find a solution for this situation, we removed all of the apps from the iPad apart from the ones needed for the exam, I was able to download the paper before the actual exam and turned off wifi.

 

I was a bit of a bodge if I'm hones but worked well for this particular student in the particular exam.
