Filtering for schools

Hi guys,

 

We are moving to azure AD and our current fortigate filtering solution will not suffice.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations for internet filtering? We are a secondary school and will be fully cloud.

 

I used to use lightspeed and liked it but have been advised it is not as good as it used to be!

It's been good so far. Fully cloud based so would suit your setup.

You can do SAML for https on Fortigate.

You can do SAML for https on Fortigate. But I haven’t tried it.

Thanks, have used smoothwall before briefly but had lots of issues with it as soon as it was rolled out. How is their support do you find?

I've not worked in schools for a couple of years and haven't used Smoothwall in all of that time, so this may be out of date. I found that when you got hold of their support they were exemplary but a lot of the time, getting hold of them was a massive challenge. That was something that was being worked on so it might be better now.

FortiGate fully integrates with Azure AD and thus its web filtering functionality. Are you on a recent software version? Is there anything specific the FortiGate can't do for you? Perhaps we could help and give you some pointers as we're a Fortinet partner.

Their support has always been good. Reasonable response times, and we always get through to someone who knows what their doing.
